Scarborough's historic Old Vic pub set to reopen - here's when

The Old Vic pub and The Victoria Hotel are situated opposite the railway station and the building is famous for being the birthplace of Oscar-winning actor Charles Laughton in 1899.
The pub was closed without notice on January 7 2019 and has remained empty every since but now new owners have stepped up to transform the landmark property.

Hide AdManager Joe Devassy, of new owners Historical Hotels and Properties Limited, said they collected the keys on Christmas Eve and have since been working to bring it up to standard.
He said: "We have changed quite a bit but it will keep changing.
"What we're trying to do is buy properties that have character and history and take them back to the era they're from.
"The remaining work that needs to be done in the pub will be done outside of opening hours."

Hide AdThe pub will reopen this Sunday, January 19 and then be open seven days a week.
Joe said plans are underway to open the bar and kids play area on the first floor and The Victoria Hotel in the future, though exact dates aren't yet in place.
He said: "[The Old Vic] has always been a very local bar and we'll be keeping it that way.
"We've had people knocking on the door asking when we are opening."
Historical Hotels and Properties Limited also run The Central Hotel in The Crescent and The Mariner's House on Merchant's Row.
