The council is at the beginning of the strategy development and has appointed Susan Briggs from the Tourism Network to help with the work.
As part of the process, the council would like input from tourism businesses and the general public via a short online questionnaire.
The questionnaire is open until Monday August 31 and can be completed online at scarborough.gov.uk/consultation.

Hide AdCllr Liz Colling, the council’s Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, said: “Supporting our tourism businesses is hugely important to us and never more so than right now.
“The sector makes up a large part of our local economy so it’s crucial that we get the new strategy right and develop plans that suit the needs of the industry and promote the borough’s many wonderful assets in the best possible way.
“I encourage anyone who has an interest in a successful tourism industry on the Yorkshire coast to complete our survey.
“All views are important, whether you own or manage a business that benefits from tourism, work in the industry, are a local resident or are a visitor.”
