A police spokesperson said: “At around 2.15am, we were called to reports of a Hanoi burglary from outside a property on Kingston Close, where a member of the public reported there was an intruder in their garden and their vehicle stolen.

“Patrol officers covering Bridlington were deployed initially, locating the suspected stolen motor vehicle before the driver reportedly failed to stop on the B1259, and proceeded to drive off road into a field near Langtoft.

“Our police dog unit were called up to assist, finding the vehicle decamped with no one present inside.

“Initial enquiries then quickly established this vehicle may have been connected to a possible convoy of vehicles travelling from the West Yorkshire area earlier in the night, including a suspected cloned vehicle.

“Teamwork came into brilliant play here, as roads policing officers managed to intercept the cloned vehicle.

“This led to a 51-year-old man being arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving, drug driving, disqualified driving, driving without insurance, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary dwelling with intent to steal.

“Another linked convoy vehicle was then sighted by Bridlington patrol sergeants heading west along the A166 and eventually came to a stop in Wetwang.

“A 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, burglary dwelling with intent to steal, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence. After failing a roadside drug swipe, he was also further arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
